Indoor Volleyball Camps for Ages 7-11

Registration is open April-August

Ed Ratledge and VolleyOC use several gymnasium facilities in Newport Beach to introduce 7-11 year-olds to volleyball. US universities award thousands of players every year with scholarships, and learning the game at a young age can help lead to free education later. Featuring curriculum and instruction by 17 year pro Ed Ratledge, our week long camps are designed to give your child an introduction to the game which they'll grow to love.
Where: We use the Newport Coast Community Center and the Lincoln Elementary School gym for our indoor summer camps.

What to bring: Water bottle and snacks are advised, kneepads aren't required as we don't teach diving at our indoor camps and classes, though comfortable clothing is advised.

What we do: Workouts generally begin with footwork drills to increase the athleticism of our young players. We also spend time playing soccer as a competitive warm-up. Soccer replicates some of the footwork and communication necessary in volleyball. We then use special, soft-foam volleyballs to practice skills and movement, then we finish many workouts with a game of "Jail Break" which is modified to utilize and practice the skills worked on that day.

All of our Camps and Classes strive for a 10:1 ratio: VolleyOC always uses experienced, enthusiastic coaches. Most of our coaches play, or have played professionally.

Our Thursday afternoon classes are also listed here because they are for the same ages. They run during the school year and keep kids learning!
