At VolleyOC, we love to teach players of all skill levels how to play volleyball. Our Goldenwest camps are typically attended by players with some athletic experience who haven't started club volleyball. A summer camp is a great way to find out if volleyball is something your child loves, or bolster their love of the game. Featuring curriculum and instruction by 22 year AVP professional Ed Ratledge, our Monday-Friday 9-11:30am camps are designed to bring out the best in your young volleyball player.
Where: Pacific Life Branch of the Boys and Girls Club, on the campus of Goldenwest College. Use this link for a map to the gym. You'll need to walk past the track to get there.
What to bring: Water bottle and snacks are advised, kneepads are not mandatory but not discouraged if your kids are excited about the game.
What we do: Workouts generally begin with footwork drills to increase the athleticism of our young players. Our staff will create groups after we assess age and volleyball experience to make sure more experienced players are not encumbered by younger or newer players. We'll then spend about half of our time doing age and skill-level appropriate drills, and about half of the camp day in guided competition.
Coaches and Numbers: All of our Camps strive for an 8:1 ratio and VolleyOC camps always feature experienced, enthusiastic coaches. Most of our coaches play, or have played in college, some even play professionally. 22 year AVP professional Ed Ratledge designs the curriculum and sometimes personally instructs your children.
